This is what we're about:

Ours is a painting studio.

Located on the upper floor of the historic Crawford/Clarkson House on the corner of Bull and Blanding Streets in downtown Columbia, SC, the studio is a long ways up; hence the name "The CLIMB".

This is where we come to paint, but there's more to life than work.  We also have a very active dayroom.

It is our place to be creative.

The Climb Studio is a consortium of professional artists who share the same interest in:

1.  Encouraging each other to walk in a manner worthy of our calling;

2.  Encouraging others to boldly express themselves in the arts; and

3.  Encouraging young men to achieve things not previously considered.

We recognize achievements here.

You can identify Climb principal artists and those whom we have recognized as having  made a noticeable first-time achievement in their lives (we call them Climb fellows) by their distinctive necktie.

When you see one of these ties, ask the wearer what he did to earn his tie.

These are our principal artists:

Steven Whetstone

Steven was educated in fine art at the University of South Carolina, where he received a BFA.  After a short stint with the  Chicago White Sox organization, he came back home to pursue his real passion: art.  He has been a full time artist since 2004

Steven's strong works include portraits, landscapes, and figurative works that are sought after by individual collectors and corporations. With numerous solo shows and awards, Steven has also judged art shows throughout the Southeast.

Henry Foster

A retired businessman who took up painting late in life, Henry loves looking for that special something - contrasts between dark and light or near and far, shapes, colors that pop, or the sublime way a line moves - things that say, "Hey, guys!  Look at this!"

Henry primarily paints landscapes in any size.  His works are widely collected and are available directly from the artist.
